Yuri (和仁, Yuri, born 20 July 1993) formally known as Yuri, Prince Chinen is the only son of Ren, Prince Chinen and Kase Haruko. His grandfather is Prince Masayuki making him a cousin of Prince Kiyoshi. According to Teikonian succession laws, he is 6th and second to the last in line to the Throne of Teiko. He served as Kampaku (Royal Advisor) from April 2015 until August 2022. Prince Chinen inherited his current title in 2006 after the death of his father. He is the first openly homosexual member of the royal family and is married to idol and singer Riku Nanase.

In 2016, Prince Chinen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Kaijo.

Kampaku[edit | edit source]

In April 2015, Prince Chinen was appointed by Prince Kazuhito as Kampaku after the death of Hajime. Since then he have represented the Throne of Teiko in multiple occasions such as during the State Opening of the Royal Council and international events like Teiko Short Film Festival, Teiko Trade Festival and the AIN Expo.

In his capacity as royal adviser, he was recognized as the 2016 Teiko Shinbun Person of the Year for efforts and campaign during the Teiko succession crises.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Prince Chinen is in a relationship with idol and singer Riku Nanase. It is unclear however whether their relationship is recognized by the Royal Household Agency. Prince Chinen has admitted that he enjoys music and plays musical instruments as a hobby. He is known to be able to play the violin, guitar, and piano.

In March 2023, the Hwabaek has approved his marriage with Riku Nanase becoming the first openly homosexual member of the royal family to marry.[1]
