Tropea is the capital of the Federal State Republic of Tropea. is one of the smallest cities present at Siculia in fact, the total population of 15.578. The town is famous for its historical and natural beauties, to the casino and to the International Airport Giuseppe Colucci which lies close to the beach.
Geography[edit | edit source]
The land is hilly, mountainous includes a small strip of plain where the city. Its morphology is particular, splits in two parts: the upper part where there is the old town, the various casinos and political administrative offices. The lower part includes the beach, airport and marina. The climate is tropical Mediterranean then in winter slightly warm, but in the summer there is a sultry heat and damp.For this climate there is the tropical flora and with a large presence of Mediterranean scrub.

The main source of income of Tropea is tourism. Tourism is fueled by the scenic beauty and by the casinos on this city. The old town and its museums attract tourists. Though the success of the region is given by International Airport Giuseppe Colucci for the fact that the slopes are attacked with the beach.There are presence of agricultural products industries. Agriculture is highly developed in this region produces the "Virgin olive oil of Tropea" and "wine of Tropea".Highly developed local craft industry, as terracotta artifacts.

The main infrastructure is International Airport Giuseppe Colucci linking Tropea international, because of its small slopes and its location, sandwiched between a large hill and the Atlantic Ocean, is itself a tourist attraction: aerial photography enthusiasts or merely curious gather in Tropea Beach, beach located at one end of the track , where you can see switch at very low altitude aircraft of various sizes during take off and landing.Tropea and connected with Bibbiena and its commercial port with A123 Highway and a railway line that is crossed by HST 300. The scenic beauty and antiquity of the two works were included "national register of cultural heritage" and crosses the Santa Teresa National Park.

The town of Tropea has a large selection of crimes related to the activities of criminal organisations. In July there is the Festival of bluefish and red onion. The Festival celebrates the red onion and traditional cuisine, which uses the Bluefish and the Tropea red onion (who has been awarded the quality mark). The Festival is organized by the Associazione Turistica Pro Loco Tropea.
In August the exhibition promoted by the cultural association Film Festival film Tropea Tropeana. The event is held in the Teatro del Porto di Tropea, within the Marina.
In September in the old town of Tropea Tropea Blues Festival takes place, a Blues Music Festival for a week see perform dozens of bands. The format of the event is characterised by the performance almost simultaneously, through the streets of the old town, numerous ' band ', as is the tradition of the hometown of this genre (New Orleans).
On 15 October in honor of Santa Teresa, a traditional feast is celebrated with a lunch offered to the devotees, two processions among the Masses, bands during the evening and Fireworks.
In December the Pro loco Tropea organizes, often, a representation of the Nativity scene with actors playing the ancient crafts. The representation is made more realistic by the scenery and the presence of animals in the flesh.
