Maroniko ("maroon speech"; sometimes spelled Maronico), known as Araucarian (Maroniko: arakawiano) outside of Balisca, is a creole language that emerged in the Maroon Confederacy (what is now the community of Araucaria) as a result of the mixing of Yoruba, Mozarabic and Kurupirangüe languages amongst self-liberated maroons. Later migration led to the emergence of the Maroniko-speaking Kirile community in Sanyan.
