List of tallest buildings and structures in Balisca
The first skyscrapers in Balisca were built during the 1940s, beginning as a response to significant overcrowding attributed to population growth, compounded by immigration influxes. The first skyscraper to be constructed in Balisca was the Empúries Bank Building. Skyscrapers in Balisca are among the tallest in Western and Southern Hemispheres. A significant number of them concentrated in the Expansión and Ampurias boroughs of the Castejón Metropolis. Since the 1970s, Baliscan cities have embraced an "up, not out" policy, opting to construct taller buildings in close proximity rather than continuing the trend of developing distant suburbs, which has led to the rise of edge cities throughout the country. The subsequent proliferation of multi-tower, high-rise building complexes, such as public housing estates, mixed-use and transit-oriented developments near transit stations has greatly increased the number of skyscrapers nationwide.
Supertall skyscrapers, however, are a relatively new and controversial phenomenon in Balisca. In the thirteen years since the first supertall tower was completed in 2009, 50,479 of Balisca's 57,681 communes have either introduced restrictions on supertalls or banned them entirely. Additionally, proposals for large scale building projects have slowed down substantially since the 2000s due to a heightened community awareness of skyscraper's effect on urban ecology, such as changes to air circulation (dubbed as "wall effect") and light pollution.
As of August 2022, the Ampurias Tower of Castejón is the tallest skyscraper in Balisca and the Americas with a height of 625 metres (2,051 ft). Other Castejonero skyscrapers, such as Cima d'Anhelo, 44 Concordia, and 22 Ampuria are some of the tallest buildings in both Balisca and the Americas.
The number of skyscrapers in Balisca is slated to grow significantly in the next few years, with over 40 new skyscrapers under construction throughout the country over the height of 150 metres (490 ft), and countless more approved or under consideration. Half of those under construction are slated to be completed before the end of 2024 with all others being completed after that year. There are numerous skyscrapers being proposed or under construction that exceed 250 metres (820 ft), with notable examples such as the Bayara One (under construction) in Macaio and the Infinity Towers and the Baliscan Bank Tower in Castejón.
Tallest buildings[edit | edit source]
This list ranks completed and topped out Balisca's skyscrapers that stand at least 198 metres (650 ft) tall based on standard height measurements. This includes spires and architectural details but does not include antenna masts. An equal sign (=) following a rank indicates the same height between two or more buildings. An asterisk (*) indicates that the building is still under construction but has been topped out. The "Year" column indicates the year in which a building was completed.
