List of Princes of Teiko

From Alliance of Independent Nations Wiki

The List of princes of Teiko presents the traditional order of succession of Teikonian princes. The sequence, order and dates of the princes are based on the Teiko calendar system. There have been 8 Teikonian princes since the since the establishment of the Kingdom of Teiko in 22 December 1848. The first prince to accede to the Throne of Teiko was Keisuke, then head of the influential Kamisato clan. Since then, all princes have come from the clan. In 2016, there was an interregnum due to the lack of the necessary regency laws allowing the appointment of a regent that can perform the functions and duties of the Throne on behalf of the minor prince. This has since been fixed with an ammendment to the Teiko Succession Law. The current and the youngest Prince to accede the throne is Kiyoshi who succeeded upon his father's untimely death in November 2016.

According to the Royal Household Law and the Teiko Succession Law, succession to the Throne of Teiko is limited only to male descendants. The next in line to the throne is heir presumptive Taishi, the current Sesshō who is a first degree paternal cousin of Prince Kiyoshi.
