It is bordered to the northeast by the [[Expansión]] borough, and is bounded by [[Salto Bay]] on the remaining three sides. It is the smallest borough by area, and the sixth-most populous, with an estimated population of 832,879 residents in May 2023. Ampurias has been described as the most prominent cultural, financial, media, and entertainment center in Balisca. 

The borough hosts the headquarters of various {{W|international organization}}s along with major domestic [[W:Cooperative|cooperatives]] such as the [[Castejón Broadcasting Collective]], and the [[Rinaldi Co-op]]. Due to its special economic status, it is the area where many {{W|multinational corporations}} and other corporations have their regional headquarters.
